Before you apply, get more details on Electrify Marin. Keep in mind:

  • Rebates are for all-electric appliances, including:
    • heat pump water heaters
    • heat pumps for space heating
    • induction cooking appliances
  • You must be replacing an old gas or propane appliance
  • You can apply for rebates on multiple appliances at once
  • Rebates are paid directly to you (the homeowner), not to a contractor

Steps

  1. Make sure your new appliance meets the requirements

To get the rebates, your new appliance must meet our energy standards. If you have any questions, contact us with the appliance model number you're considering to be sure.

  2. Get a permit (if you need one)

If you're replacing your water heater or furnace, you need a permit. Often times, your contractor will get the permit on your behalf.

If you're not sure, the best thing to do is contact your local building department. Tell them what appliances you want to install and ask if you need a permit. They will help you complete the process.

  3. Take "before" photos of your current appliance

You'll need to submit photos of your old gas appliance when you apply for the rebate.

  4. Buy the appliance and have it installed

Before you can get the rebates, you must:

    • Buy the appliance
    • Get the required permits
    • Have it installed
  5. Take "after" photos of the new appliance after it's installed

You'll need these photos as part of your application.

  6. Fill out the Electrify Marin application

  7. Prepare your paperwork

    You need to have:

    • Completed application
    • Proof of purchase for the appliance, which can be:
      • A receipt from the store where you bought it
      • A contractor invoice that lists the specific equipment they installed
    • "Before" picture of the old appliance
    • "After" picture of the new appliance
    • Copy of the building permit for your project (if needed)
    • IRS W9 form
    • If your rebate is over $600: Marin Electronic Funds Transfer form, including a voided check for direct deposit payment

  8. Send us the application and paperwork

  9. Wait for an email from us

We'll review your application and send you an email letting you know if:

    • Your rebate is approved
    • We need you to send us more information

If you're approved, you'll receive your money in about 4 to 6 weeks

    • If your rebate is below $600, we'll mail you a check
    • If your rebate is above $600, we'll direct deposit into the bank account you provided
