Local Marin contractors play a critical role in helping residents reach their home efficiency and sustainability goals. The Marin County Sustainability Team encourages local building professionals to incorporate the latest green building practices and technologies into their business offerings.

Training programs

The Pacific Gas & Electric Company (PG&E) Pacific Energy Center provides no-cost, online technical trainings for contractors on a wide range of topics, including:

  • Energy efficiency
  • Decarbonization
  • Electrification

Trainings are offered live and on-demand. Visit the PG&E Energy Center website for the current course catalog and information on available certifications.

 

The Bay Area Regional Energy Network (BayREN) Codes & Standards Program offers code compliance trainings for local government building departments and contractors. Visit the BayREN trainings and events page for upcoming contractor training opportunities. 

 

The Sonoma Clean Power Advanced Energy Center offers a physical location where the public can view and learn more about energy efficient technologies (induction cooking, heat pump water heaters, etc.). They also provide contractor trainings and information on rebate programs.

Support with hiring and employee training

The Workforce Alliance of the North Bay supports local businesses by helping find qualified employees and providing funding for training new and existing staff. 

 

MCE Clean Energy's Green Workforce Pathways Program provides stipends for new hires for contractors working in energy-related residential projects.
