Priority Setting Committee

The Countywide Priority Setting Committee helps the County prioritize federal and state money for affordable housing and public services.

The Countywide Priority Setting Committee (PSC) provides guidance on the County's distribution of federal and state funds for:

  • Affordable housing
  • Community infrastructure, and
  • Public Services

These funds are from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and the CA Department of Housing and Community Development (HCD).

The Committee's role includes:

  • Establishing priorities for the funding, and
  • Reviewing applications from local nonprofit and public agencies.

PSC Composition

The PSC includes 18 members representing all areas of Marin. The group includes:

  • one member of the Board of Supervisors, 
  • 10 elected officials representing Marin’s cities and towns, and 
  • 7 community members, specifically those representing the protected classes.

The inclusion of community members in the group began in 2012, with the goal of bringing more diverse perspectives to the group. Under federal laws protected classes include:

  • race
  • color
  • national origin
  • religion
  • sex (including sexual orientation and gender identity)
  • familial status
  • disability
