Spring Into Community

Learn about Spring Into Community with Supervisor Lucan.

What is Spring Into Community?

Spring Into Community is a fun campaign the District 5 Team launched that will occur annually each spring.

This is an opportunity to highlight some of the great work and initiatives our County teams and departments are working on and how we (me and you!) can participate.

On this page, you will find the Spring Into Community events my team and I will be participating in this year - 2024.

We hope you are able to join us at one or more of them!

Congregate Meal 60+ years

Thursday, March 28, 2024
Noon - 1:00 PM
Margaret Todd Senior Center: 1560 Hill Rd, Novato
Must be 60+ years

If you are 60 years or older, I invite you to join me and my team for lunch at the Margaret Todd Senior Center on March 28. Also joining us will be City of Novato Mayor Mark Milberg and District 5 Marin County Aging Commissioners Peter Reubens and Sylvia Barry.

Congregate Meals are provided at the Margaret Todd Senior Center every Tuesday and Thursday at Noon. Meals are provided at no cost, although there is a voluntary contribution of $3.00 per meal.

To attend a congregate meal, you must make a reservation in advance. The deadline is the Thursday of the week before you plan to attend (If you would like to join us on March 28, the deadline to register is March 21). To sign up to attend a lunch event, call 415-473-INFO (4636).

The Congregate Meals program is administered by the Marin County Aging and Adult Services Team in partnership with Community Action Marin, who provides the meals for the lunches. With one of the largest populations of older adults in California, Aging and Adult Services is an important area of focus at the County and in Marin. This team provides services and supports for older adults and persons with disabilities to promote quality of life and independence – including nutrition services, and that’s where our Congregate Meals program comes in! At these lunches, older adults can enjoy a hot and nutritious meal, in a fun and social setting with other seniors.

Rush Creek Preserve Clean-up

Saturday, April 6, 2024
9:00 AM – 11:00 AM
Rush Creek Preserve (Binford Road entrance), Novato
Pre-registration Required

This is a great opportunity to get outdoors, have fun, and help remove trash at one of our Marin County Parks preserves with fellow community members, Marin County Parks staff, and the District 5 team.

Supplies will be provided, and all ages are welcome to participate (kids must be accompanied by an adult). Pre-registration is required, and you can do so on the Marin County Parks website.

In addition to preserving, protecting, and enriching Marin County’s Parks and Open Space Preserves (including 39 parks and 34 open space preserves!), our Parks team offers a variety of awesome events and volunteer activities year-round that provide great opportunities for our community to get outside, have fun, learn, explore the outdoors, and give back to the special places where we love to recreate. I encourage you to check out the Marin County Parks website to learn more.

Note, this clean-up effort will be focused on the vicinity of the Rush Creek Preserve, not the Binford Road encampment.
